How to use a Cafetiere
A classic piece of coffee making equipment, the cafetiere (or french press) makes a full bodied cup. If you're buying fresh coffee it's likely you know how to use one but we may have a few tips that'll help you get the best from your coffee.
|1 scoop of coffee (16g) per person|
Once your kettle has boiled give it about a minute to cool, boiling water isn't great for coffee!
If you have beans, grind them coarse, about the consistency of sand, or you can order a perfect cafetiere grind from Viking Coffee Co!
Whilst the water is cooling put a scoop (16g) of coffee per person into the beaker.
Pour water over the grounds so they are just covered the coffee should start to bloom (swell and bubble), give it about 30s.
Pour in the rest of the water to fill your cafetiere.
Give the coffee a stir to ensure a thorough extraction.
Pop the lid on (don't plunge yet) and let it brew for 3 minutes.
When the time is up, slowly plunge and enjoy!
